Turning your memories into minimalist pieces of art. A glimpse into the Simple Prints Journey
Simple Prints began in 2018 when two friends, Sam and Tia, were studying towards their Masters in Landscape Architecture. In between assignments, Sam started experimenting in Photoshop turning photos into minimal, 2D illustrations. What amazed her most was how these simplified designs still captured the essence of the person. It felt new, unique, and deeply personal and that’s where the idea for Simple Prints was born.
Like most small businesses, the early days were full of trial and error. Prints were priced at just $8 NZD (no matter the size or number of people), and packaging was… well, let’s just say not quite as refined as it is today. Sam and Tia learned quickly that people wanted previews, that water damage was a real risk, and that mistakes were simply part of the journey. But each challenge brought growth, better systems, and more care put into every detail.
Over time, the business evolved. Tia pursued her passion for teaching, while Sam continued to grow Simple Prints refining the process, improving the quality, and expanding the range of thoughtful keepsakes.
Today, Simple Prints is built on the same foundation it began with: creating meaningful, sentimental artwork that celebrates people, milestones, and memories. Every piece is designed with care, made to last, and created with the belief that the best gifts aren’t just things — they’re stories you can hold onto.
